Jesus: Prince of Peace

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6 ESV.

The last title for Jesus found in this verse is Prince of Peace. This one is especially dear to my heart, since I used to make myself crazy worrying about things and trying to plan for every possible outcome.

If I accept the gift of Jesus and let him rule my life, I have peace in two wonderful ways.

First, I have peace with God.

For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility - Ephesians 2:14 ESV

and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. - Colossians 1:20 ESV

I’m no longer His enemy, but His daughter. Jesus willingly let Himself be killed so that this could happen.

Wow, wow, wow!

In addition to peace with God, I can have the peace of God, which helps me live calmly and joyfully in this crazy, broken world that’s not my home. Jesus gives peace of heart and mind that those who don't know Him can't really understand. (John 14:27, Philippians 4:6-7) It's the peace of God through Jesus that helps me keep calm when things are spinning out of control. It's the peace of knowing God is taking care of things for me.

Think About: How have you experienced Jesus as the Prince of Peace?

P.S. I wanted to mention something about gifts. When somebody gives you a beautifully wrapped gift, it’s not completely yours if you never unwrap it and accept what’s inside.

So, I have to ask, “Have you accepted Jesus, God’s Gift to you?”

If you have questions about how to do this, I’ll be happy to talk to you. Leave a comment below or use the Let’s Chat form. He’s really the best Gift ever!
